Latham, NY – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a tough 4-3 road win at RPI Sunday afternoon, finishing the conference schedule unblemished.
Jonas Santos (Las Vegas, NV),
Joaquin Gil (Brooklyn, NY) and
Shrey Choudhary (Farmington, CT) all earned singles wins in the victory for the Brewers.
Sunay's win is Vassar's 10
th straight triumph and improves it to 15-5 overall and a perfect 8-0 against conference rivals. RPI slips to 4-12 and 4-5 against league opponents.
Doubles
- Vassar battled to the doubles point with wins at all three positions against the Engineers.
- The top pair of Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) and Trevor Hajek (Denver, CO) outlasted their opponents from RPI in a hard fought 7-6 (7-5) victory.
- At the second position, Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) and Junchen Jia (Vail, AZ) continued a strong spring with a 6-4 triumph.
- Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) and Santos won their 11th straight decision on Sunday in a tight 7-6 (7-2) victory.
Singles
- The bottom half of the Brewers' lineup came away victorious on Sunday to clinch the regular season finale.
- Choudhary gave Vassar a 2-0 lead in the match following a decisive 6-1, 6-0 victory at the sixth position.
- Gil pushed Vassar in front 3-0 in a 7-5, 6-1 win at the fifth position.
- After RPI pulled to within 3-1 in a victory at the second slot, Santos cliched the win with an impressive 6-4, 6-2 victory at the fourth flight.
