Junchen Jia (Vail, AZ) collects his second straight and third Rookie of the Week honor of the season with
Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and
Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) collecting Doubles Team of the Week accolades for the second straight week and third time this season.
Jia won his only singles match of the week for Vassar, who scored wins over league rival Bard and non-conference foe Coast Guard. Playing at third singles against the Bears on Sunday, a 7-0 victory for Vassar, Jia scored a 6-1, 6-0 victory to improve to 7-4 on the season. Jia also teamed with
Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) for a 6-3 second doubles win for Vassar against the Bears.
Bauermeister and Kubiak won a pair of matches playing at the first doubles flight over the weekend for the Brewers. The duo opened the weekend with a 6-1 win against Bard and added a 6-2 win at Coast Guard Sunday afternoon to finish off a perfect weekend. The two wins gives Vassar's top pair five straight victories and moves them to 9-4 through 13 spring decisions.
Winners of six straight matches, Vassar holds an 11-5 overall record and a perfect 4-0 mark against Liberty League opponents.
