Claremont, CA – The #26 Vassar College Women's Tennis team dropped a 7-0 road match Saturday afternoon at #1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Brewers will continue their five-match western swing on Monday in Los Angeles.
Saturday's loss drops Vassar to 2-2 overall on the season, while the Athenas improve their standing to 6-1.
Doubles
- CMS claimed the doubles point on Saturday with victories in all three decisions.
- Vassar's top pair of Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) and Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) suffered a 6-1 defeat to the Athenas.
- CMS earned 6-0 sweeps at second and third doubles.
Singles
- In singles play, McCusker battled reigning National Singles Champion, Lindsay Eisenman, in a tightly contested 7-6, 1-6, 0-1 (5-10) decision.
- At fourth singles, Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) fought hard in a tight 5-7, 6-7 (4-7) defeat to Rachel Garton.
- Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) was in action at fifth singles and suffered a hard fought 3-6, 3-6 defeat.
- At the sixth position, Liya Pomfret (Berkeley, CA) battled CMS' Georgia Garrett in a tough 3-6, 4-6 defeat.
What's Next
- Vassar takes on Sewanee on Monday at Los Angeles' Mountain Gate Country Club.
- CMS takes on SCIAC rival Cal Tech later Saturday.
