Jonas Santos (Las Vegas, NV) each scored singles wins for the Brewers.
Vassar falls to 2-1 through its first three spring decisions, while MIT evens its record at 1-1.
Doubles
- Vassar earned the doubles point against the Engineers with wins at the first and third positions.
- The Brewers' top pair of Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) bested MIT's top unit in a tough 6-4 decision.
- At the third slot, Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) and Santos outlasted their opponents in a tight 7-6 (7-4) victory.
- At the second position, Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) and Jia battled in a 5-7 defeat.
Singles
- Jia continued a strong rookie campaign on Saturday and moved to a perfect 3-0 after battling to a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory at the fourth position against MIT's Grant Gallagher.
- Santos also moved his singles record to an unblemished 3-0 after scoring a 6-0, 2-6, 7-5 fifth singles win.
- Lee suffered his first loss of the spring after dropping a 0-6, 6-4, 5-7 heartbreaker at the top singles flight.
What's Next
- Vassar will be off from competition until March 12 when it takes on Kenyon and Hamline in Orlando, FL.
- MIT hosts Tufts on March 13.
