Pasadena, CA – The #26 Vassar College Women's Tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision on the road at #31 CalTech Tuesday evening. Sophomores
Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) and
Liya Pomfret (Berkeley, CA) each won singles matches for the Brewers.
Tuesday's loss, Vassar's fourth straight defeat, drops it to 2-4 overall with the Beavers improving to 2-1.
Doubles
- CalTech took the first and second doubles matches to secure the doubles point.
- Lee and Sara Lippin (Chappaqua, NY) teamed together for the first time this spring against the Beavers and earned a 6-3 third doubles victory.
Singles
- Lee won her second straight decision for the Brewers and improved to 3-2 this spring following an impressive 6-1, 6-1 victory at the third position.
- Pomfret found the win column for the second time this spring after battling to a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 victory at the sixth position.
- At the top flight, Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) dropped a hard fought 6-2, 2-6, 3-6 decision to CalTech's Carissa Gerung.
- Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) also went the distance at the second position in a 2-6, 7-6 (9-7), 3-6 decision.
- Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) suffered a tight 6-4, 2-6, 4-6 defeat at the fourth flight for the Brewers.
- At five, Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) was outlasted 4-6, 6-2, 1-6.
