Elodie Ware (Columbus, OH) has been named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week in Women's Basketball it was announced Monday afternoon. Monday's honor is Ware's first career citation and it marks the eighth time a Brewer has been named Rookie of the Week to date this season.
Ware had a strong week for Vassar covering three Liberty League contests. Ware averaged 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 assists per game for the Brewers and shot an even 40-percent (10-for-25) from the floor and 80-percent (8-for-10) from the free-throw line.
Ware opened the week with eight points, three rebounds and three blocked shots against Skidmore before totaling nine points, four rebounds and a trio of assists in a road win at Bard on Friday. To close out the week, Ware tallied a team-high 12 points and collected three rebounds Saturday afternoon at RPI.
Through 21 games as a rookie, Ware is fourth on the team in scoring with 6.5 points per game. Ware is good for just over three rebounds per game to date and paces the team with 25 blocked shots. Ware is currently tied for third in the Liberty League with 1.2 blocks per contest.
At 10-11 overall and 9-5 against conference opponents, Vassar returns to action on Friday with a big conference matchup at home with Union.
