Wiener Wins, Sets School Record In 500-Yard Freestyle On Day One Of Liberty League Championship

Senior won 500-yard freestyle for fourth straight year

Ithaca, NY – Senior Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) won the 500-yard freestyle for the fourth straight season and in the process smashed the previous school record in the event Wednesday night on Day One of the 2026 Liberty League Championship. Wiener's performance helped spark the Brewers to a fourth-place ranking following the first day of events with a team score of 199 points.

Ithaca sits atop the team leaderboard with 386 points and the Bombers are followed by RPI (286), Skidmore (247), Vassar (199), RIT (180), Union (92), Clarkson (81), St. Lawrence (68) and William Smith (42).

For The Brewers

Wiener continued her domination of the 500-yard freestyle at the league championship meet on Wednesday, posting a school record and winning time of 5:02.75.
Wiener, the four-time champion in the event, topped the field by nearly four seconds, shaved better than six seconds off of her prelim time and bested the pervious school record of 5:04.28 by nearly two full seconds.
Wiener topped the previous school standard in the event which was set in 2016 and narrowly missed the NCAA 'B' cut time of 5:00.16.
Fellow senior Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) also turned in a strong swim in the 500-yard freestyle, placing seventh overall on Wednesday with a time of 5:12.75.
First Year Stella Petersen (Hockessin, DE) swam to a 15^th-place finish swimming in the 'B' final of the 500-yard freestyle, touching out in a personal best time of 5:24.83.
Fellow First Year Izzy Holmes (New York, NY) led the way for Vassar in the 200-yard individual medley, placing 13^th overall swimming in the 'B' final with a personal best time of 2:15.80.
Senior Stephanie Norris (Santa Barbara, CA) shaved better than two seconds off of her preliminary time in the final, swimming to an 18^th-place finish in a season best time of 2:16.47.
First Year Abigail Ford (Califon, NJ) led five Brewers swimming in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle with a 10^th-place finish in a personal best time of 24.39 seconds.
Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) turned in a 14^th-place swim in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.80 seconds with Clare Baker (Lafayette, CA) taking the 15^th position in 25.07 seconds.
In the 'C' final, Alaina Desautels (Arlington, VA) finished 20^th in 25.19 seconds followed closely by Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Village, MI) in 21^st with a time of 25.23 seconds.
In the first relay event of the championship, the Vassar quartet of Hoagland, Ford, Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) and Wiener swam to a time of 4:00.20 in the 400-yard medley relay, good for the fourth position overall.
Vassar's 'B' entry in the event of Baker, Eva D'Addario (Baltimore, MD), Norris and Desautels placed 21^st and showed a time of 4:09.48.

What's Next

Vassar will be back in the pool Thursday morning for preliminary swims beginning at 10:00 a.m.
