Holman, Wager Garner Liberty League Accolades

Duo led Brewers to 2-0 week to open conference play

Troy, NY – A pair of Vassar College Women's Soccer student-athletes were honored with Liberty League Weekly Awards it was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. First Year Ava Holman (St. Louis, MO) has been named the league'S Rookie of the Week, her third award of the season, and junior Cecelia Wager (Brookline, MA) has earned Defensive Performer of the Week honors.
 
Holman, who was named Rookie of the Week on September 2 and Offensive Performer of the Week on September 8, totaled four points on the strength of two goals last week. Holman scored both her goals in a 6-0 road win at Bard and surged into the team lead in markers with six and points with 12.
 
Through 10 games, Holman is tied for the conference lead in goals (6) and sits third in the league in total points (12).
 
Wager picks up her first career weekly award after anchoring the Vassar backline in a pair of shutouts to start conference play. Over two league tilts, a 6-0 win at Bard and a 1-0 home win against Ithaca, the Brewers' defense surrendered a total of just six shots and only one shot on goal.
 
Through the season's first 10 games, Wager leads a defensive unit that has allowed only seven goals and leads the conference, surrendering 0.70 goals per game. Vassar has allowed 84 shots per game to date, giving up just over eight attempts per contest.
 
At 8-2 overall and 2-0 in Liberty League play, Vassar is off until traveling to RIT on October 4.
