Men’s Tennis Opens Fall Season At Haverford/Swarthmore Invitational

Brewers take on Stevens, Haverford on Saturday

Swarthmore, PA – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team played its first of four matches at the Haverford/Swarthmore Invitational Friday afternoon. Vassar took on co-host Swarthmore with eight Brewers making their collegiate debuts in the match.

Doubles

Vassar's top pair of Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) battled in a tightly contested match, dropping a tough 8-6 decision.
Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) and First Year Jonas Santos (Las Vegas, NV) were in action at the second slot, falling 8-3 on Friday.
At third doubles, Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) and First Year Jason Jia (Vail, AZ) suffered an 8-4 defeat.

Singles

Lee battled for the Brewers at the top singles flight, dropping a tough 4-6, 4-6 decision.
Kubiak made his return to the Vassar lineup on Friday and competed in a tight 4-6, 3-6 loss.
Jia was in action on Friday at the third slot and suffered a tough 5-7, 4-6 defeat.

What's Next

Vassar continues the first competition of the fall on Saturday when it takes on Stevens (9:00 a.m.) and Haverford (2:30 p.m.).
