Poughkeepsie, NY - The Vassar College Women's Volleyball team opened the home slate on Friday evening as the Brewers swept SUNY Delhi 25-16, 25-21, 25-16 in the opening match and closed the night with a 26-24, 25-18, 25-18 victory against Mount Holyoke on the first day of the Vassar Quad. VC moves its record to 6-1 overall on the season and is off to the best start since 2009 when the Brewers start the season 8-0.
Vassar 3 SUNY Delhi 0
First Set
	- Vassar rolled out to an 11-3 lead to begin the set behind two aces from junior Maura McAusland along with two kills from sophomore Eleanor Gegen.
 
	- A kill from Skyler Furtado and back-to-back aces from Faith Sheltra trimmed the lead down to 14-8.
 
	- Three straight kills from junior Holland Kaplan expanded the advantage back to 19-11.
 
	- VC scored four of the final five points behind kills from Kaplan, McAusland and senior Rebecca Gutierrez along with an ace from sophomore Erin Lovett.
 
Second Set
	- Two kills each from Kaplan and Gegen along with two Kaplan aces put the Brewers in front 7-3 to start the second stanza.
 
	- Delhi battled back to take an 8-7 lead on two aces from Furtado and a winner from Miranda Mosco.
 
	- Junior T Petro's ace put VC back in front until two aces from Audrey Logsdon pushed the Broncos back ahead 12-10.
 
	- Delhi went ahead 20-17 before the Brewers used a three point run behind two Petro aces and a Gutierrez kill to even the set at 20.
 
	- Noelle Placonica's kill regained the advantage at 21-20 until VC scored five straight points, led by two Lovett kills and a block from first year Ellen Zwerling and Lovett, to take the second set.
 
Third Set
	- The Broncos took an early 4-3 lead on a kill from Kayla Nuss.
 
	- Kills from Kaplan, Zwerling, Lovett and first year Elena Feuer put the Brewers on top 10-7.
 
	- A 10-1 run from VC, led by three Lovett kills and two Petro aces, gave VC a 21-11 lead.
 
	- The Brewers collected a kill from Kaplan and a Delhi error clinched the home opening sweep for Vassar.
 
For The Brewers
	- Kaplan tallied a team-high 13 kills (.385), six digs and two aces while Lovett recorded eight kills, two aces and two blocks.
 
	- Gegen registered six winners, Gutierrez added five kills and McAusland finished with four kills, two aces and four digs.
 
	- Junior Francesca Medrano handed out a match-high 33 assists and lifted five digs.
 
	- Petro finished with a match-high five aces and recorded three digs.
 
For The Broncos
	- Furtado recorded seven kills, three aces and two digs along with Nuss tallying four winners, two blocks and three digs.
 
	- Sheltra added three kills, three aces and two blocks while Placonica and Mosco each supplied two kills.
 
	- Laurel Poston recorded 16 assists and five digs along with Logsdon lifting a match-high 17 digs.
 
Vassar 3 Mount Holyoke 0
First Set
	- Vassar began the first set with an 8-2 lead following two Kaplan kills, a kill each from Gutierrez and Gegen and an ace from Medrano.
 
	- The advantage expanded to 14-4 after two aces from Kaplan and a kill from McAusland.
 
	- Elanni Romero's kill trimmed the lead down to 16-10 until VC expanded it back to 18-10 after a McAusland winner.
 
	- Following a Kaplan winner to make it 20-11, Mount Holyoke scored eight points in a row as Romero tallied two aces and Elle Rimando buried a kill to cut the lead to 20-19.
 
	- Madeline Barton's kill put the Lyons at set point at 24-23 but the Brewers scored the final three points of the set, led by a kill each from Kaplan and McAusland to hold on for the first set victory.
 
Second Set
	- Two McAusland kills along with a winner each from Gutierrez and Kaplan put the Brewers ahead 7-3 early.
 
	- Rimando's ace cut the lead down to two before the Brewers rattled off eight consecutive points, capped by five aces from Kaplan and a block from Lovett and Medrano.
 
	- The Lyons got back within 21-14 after two kills and an ace from Rimando and an ace from Kyra Staples.
 
	- MHC trimmed the lead down to 22-18 following two aces from Rimando and a kill from Milan Danosh.
 
	- VC scored the final three points of the set as Lovett's solo block clinched the second set victory.
 
Third Set
	- Following a 5-5 tie to open the third set, the Lyons went ahead 7-5 on a Madeline Barton ace.
 
	- VC responded with six straight points on two kills apiece from Kaplan and Lovett and a block from Medrano and Lovett.
 
	- Mount Holyoke battled back to even the set at 15 on an ace from Amelia Ringor and a block from Barton.
 
	- Following a Barton kill that brought the Lyons back to within one at 19-18, VC scored the final six points of the set behind two kills from Kaplan, a winner each from McAusland and Lovett and an ace from Kogan.
 
For The Brewers
	- Kaplan garnered a match-high 11 kills, a career-high eight aces and seven digs along with McAusland adding nine kills and nine digs.
 
	- Gutierrez tallied seven kills (.700) while Gegen buried six winners.
 
	- Lovett finished with four kills and three blocks along with Medrano recording a team-high 37 assists, three blocks and nine digs.
 
	- Senior Ellie Kogan lifted a match-high 12 digs.
 
For The Lyons
	- Rimando registered seven kills, five aces and one block while Barton finished with six kills, an ace and a block.
 
	- Olivia Murray tallied four kills along with Romero adding two aces and nine digs.
 
	- Sadie Duffrin garnered 16 assists, six digs and an ace while Staples lifted a team-high 10 digs.
