Cross Country Begins 2025 Slate With Vassar Season Starter

Women's squad has won back-to-back Liberty League Championships

Poughkeepsie, NY - The Vassar College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will begin the 2025 campaign at the Vassar Farm on Friday evening with the Vassar Season Starter beginning at 6:00 p.m.

WOMEN'S TEAM AT A GLANCE
  • The Brewers defended its Liberty League crown in 2024 as Vassar scored 36 points to defeat runner-up RPI, who tallied 41 points, at the Ronald C. Hoffman Cross Country Course in Canton, NY.
  • Vassar once again earned an at-large team bid to the NCAA Division III Championships and earned a new program-best 20th place overall finish.
  • Junior Haley Schoenegge collected the program's best ever finish at the NCAA Division III Championships as she recorded a national runner-up finish to help Vassar to a new program record team finish to garner All-American status
  • Schoenegge earned the Liberty League individual title with a time of 20:59.6 to set the new course record and Liberty League Championship record time. She also earned the league's Runner of the Year honor following her championship performance.
  • Vassar returns All-Liberty League First Team honoree in junior Adelaide Nyhan along with Second Team selections in juniors Norah Reade and Cayley Swaim.
  • The Brewers also return Honorable Mention honoree in junior Acadia Helfand to the squad.
  • The Brewers scored four first-place team finishes last season along with a runner-up finish at the Wesleyan Invitational.
NEWCOMERS NATIONAL/REGIONAL RANKINGS
  • The Brewers checked in at #16 nationally in the preseason USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll to begin 2025.
  • Vassar ranks fourth in the preseason NCAA Mideast Region rankings and is the top ranked Liberty League team ahead of RPI and St. Lawrence.
MEN'S TEAM AT A GLANCE
  • Vassar recorded a third place finish at the Liberty League Championship with 92 points, only behind nationally-ranked RPI and St. Lawrence
  • Vassar returns All-Liberty League Honorable Mention and NCAA individual qualifier in junior Sean Miller but will have to replace Second Team honoree Jose Magana.
  • VC was victorious at the season-opening Vassar Season Starter and Ron Stonitsch Invitational before finishing third at the conference championship meet and second at the ECAC Championship meet.
  • The Brewers tallied an eighth place finish at the Mideast Regional meet with Miller finishing 16th overall in a career-best time and earned All-Region status.
NEWCOMERS REGIONAL RANKINGS
  • Vassar ranks eighth in the preseason NCAA Mideast Region rankings and is the the third overall Liberty League school behind top-ranked RPI and seventh-ranked St. Lawrence.
THE SCHEDULE
  • Vassar will open the season with two home meets with the Season Starter on August 29 and the Ron Stonitsch Invitational on September 13.
  • The Brewers will then travel to Fred Pavlich Invitational at Bard and the Pre-National Invitational in South Carolina on September 20 followed by the Paul Short Run at Lehigh on October 3.
  • The Conn College Invitational will be the final tune-up on October 18 before the Liberty League Championship at St. Lawrence on November 1.
  • The NCAA Mideast Regional Championship at St. Lawrence will be on November 15 followed by the NCAA Division III Championships in Spartansburg, South Carolina on November 22.
