Ithaca, NY – The #28 Vassar College Women's Tennis team scored a hard fought 4-2 victory over #25 RPI on Saturday in the Semifinal Round of the 2025 Liberty League Championship. After taking the doubles point, the Brewers scored wins at the fourth, fifth and sixth singles positions.
Saturday's victory is Vassar's fifth straight and improves it to 13-5 on the season, while RPI falls to 12-4.
Doubles
- The Brewers opened a 1-0 lead after winning at the second and third positions.
- Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) and Macey Dowd (Orinda, CA) won their fourth straight match and improved to 13-2 on the season with a 6-4 victory.
- At the third spot, Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) and Elyse Duley (Charlotte, NC) outlasted their opponents from RPI by a 7-5 score, moving to 9-3 on the season.
Singles
- RPI closed to within 3-2, but Vassar was able to pull out the victory with wins in the bottom half of the lineup.
- Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) clinched the victory after battling past RPI's Kaaviya Kannan 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 to improve to 12-5 on the season.
- Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the fifth slot, improving to 8-3 on the season.
- Kirby moved into the sixth position on Saturday and scored a 6-3, 6-3 win for the Brewers.
What's Next
- Vassar will meet Skidmore in the title match Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.
