Greenwood, IN – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team had four student-athletes honored for their academic and athletic excellence on Tuesday with Academic All-District accolades. Seniors
Arnav Agostinho (Brooklyn, NY) and
James Balon (Winnetka, IL), junior
Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and sophomore
Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) all earned academic honors from the College Sports Communicators.
Agostinho, an Economics major, had a strong season for the Brewers in both singles and doubles competition. Playing across three singles positions, Agostinho scored nine victories and posted a 4-3 record against league opponents as a senior. In doubles play, Agostinho teamed with four separate partners to post a 12-7 record this spring. Agostinho and
Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) played together 11 times, winning eight matches as a unit.
Balon, also an Economics major at Vassar, led the team in singles wins as a senior this spring. Playing at three different lineup positions, Balon posted an 11-7 record for the Brewers, including a 6-4 mark at the fifth slot. Balon was also part of four victories in doubles play, including a 2-0 record playing alongside Agostinho.
Bauermeister, a Philosophy and Political Science major, earns Academic All-District honors for the second straight season. Bauermeister played out of the top singles flight all spring for the Brewers and posted a 9-8 record which included three triumphs against conference rivals. Bauermeister, who was named the Liberty League Singles Performer of the Week on March 17, added nine doubles wins in 2025, including an 8-5 mark teamed with Lee and the top position.
Lee, a Biochemistry major at Vassar, collects Academic All-District honors for the first time in 2025. Lee was one of three Brewers to record double-figure singles victories this spring, posting a 10-7 record, including an 8-5 mark out of the second position. Lee, who was named the Liberty League Singles Performer of the Week on April 21, also was a part of 10 doubles wins for the Brewers in 2025.
Vassar concluded the 2024-25 season with a 9-11 overall record and a 5-3 mark in Liberty League play.
