Canton, NY – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team won its second straight Liberty League contest on Saturday, scoring a 5-2 road win at St. Lawrence.
Eugene Lee (Chico, CA),
Arnav Agostinho (Brooklyn, NY),
James Balon (Winnetka, IL) and
Joaquin Gil (Brooklyn, NY) all posted singles victories for the Brewers.
Saturday's win brings Vassar to within a win of the .500 mark at 5-6 overall and keeps the Brewers unbeaten in conference play at 3-0. St. Lawrence slips to 7-8 overall and 1-1 against league rivals.
Doubles
- Vassar clinched the doubles point with wins at the top and third positions.
- Vassar first pair of Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and Lee posted a 6-3 victory against the Saints.
- At third doubles, Agostinho and Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) eased to a 6-2 win.
Singles
- Lee continued a strong start to the spring for the Brewers with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at second singles.
- Agostinho produced a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at the third position for Vassar.
- Balon blanked St. Lawrence's Aidan Baracao at five by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
- Playing at sixth singles, Gil cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
- At the top position, Bauermeister was outlasted 4-6, 6-1, 3-10.
- Joseph Braun (Albuquerque, NM) also went the distance, suffering a hard fought 1-6, 6-3, 3-6 defeat.
What's Next
- Vassar plays host to Division II St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday.
- St. Lawrence heads to Skidmore on Sunday.
