Orange, CA – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team returned to action on the West Coast on Wednesday and came away with a hard fought 4-3 victory at #39 Chapman.
Erin McCusker (Norton, MA),
Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) and
Sofie Shen (New York, NY) earned singles wins in the match for the Brewers.
Wednesday victory evens Vassar's record at 3-3 overall and gives the Brewers four straight victories against the Panthers. Champman slips to 2-2 through its first four contests.
Doubles
- Vassar opened a 1-0 lead in the match after coming away victorious at second and third doubles.
- The middle pair of Li and Macey Dowd (Orinda, CA) moved to 4-0 on the season with a 6-3 victory.
- At third doubles Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) and Elyse Duley (Charlotte, NC) outlasted their opponents from Chapman, 7-5.
Singles
- McCusker won for the second straight outing and improved to 3-3 on the season after posting a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the top flight.
- Li continued a strong start to the spring, and moved to 4-1 in the early going, with a 6-4, 6-4 second singles triumph.
- Shen won for the second time this spring, scoring a 6-2, 6-4 win at the sixth position which clinched the victory for the Brewers.
- First Year Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) was in action at the third position for the Brewers and battled hard for Vassar in a tight 7-5, 5-7, 0-1 (3-10) decision.

- Vassar continues its California trip with a visit to CalTech on Friday.
- Chapman plays host to Babson on Sunday.
