Northampton, MA – The Vassar College Women's Tennis team opened the spring schedule on Friday with an impressive 5-2 victory at Smith. The Brewers took the doubles point and went on to win at second, third fourth and sixth singles against the Pioneers.
Friday's win moves Vassar to 1-0 on the season, while the Pioneers slip to 1-2 through three decisions.
Doubles
- The Brewers top pair of Erin McCusker (Norton, MA) and Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) outlasted their opponents from Smith by a score of 7-5.
- The third pairing of Ananya Krishnan (Chesterbrook, PA) and Elyse Duley (Charlotte, NC) got off to a strong start with a 6-2 triumph for the Brewers.
Singles
- Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) was in action at the second flight on Friday and cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory for Vassar.
- Macey Dowd (Orinda, CA) opened the spring with a victory at the third position, outlasting Smith's Clara Goshgarian 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
- At four, First Year Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) found the win column in an impressive 6-1, 6-3 victory.
- Duley picked up a win for Vassar at the sixth position on Friday with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Smith's Sophia Dube.

- Vassar is right back in action on Saturday when it travels to MIT for an 11:00 a.m. match with the Engineers.
