Liberty League Champions Garner Three All-Conference Honorees; Vassar Tabbed Coaching Staff of the Year

Beseth, Rosenblum named First Team, Hoffman earns Second Team honors

Troy, NY - The Liberty League announced its Field Hockey All-Conference selections on Wednesday morning as senior midfielder Sofia Beseth and sophomore defender Sophie Rosenblum earned All-Liberty League First Team recognition along with junior Karina Hoffman being selected as a All-Liberty League Second Team honoree. In addition, the Vassar staff of Head Coach Annie Fowler and assistant coaches Cari Meltzer, Josie Skelley, Cat Hare and Sydney Kovel were named the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year.

Beseth, who earns her third All-League selection, was tabbed an All-Liberty League First Team honoree for the first time in her career after producing seven goals, a career-high four assists and 18 points entering the NCAA Championship. Beseth was named a Honorable Mention selection in 2022 as a sophomore followed by a Second Team selection as a junior last season.

Beseth also scored the game-winning goal in a 4-0 victory over Kean, which gave her six for her career and ties her for fourth all-time in Vassar program history. Beseth also is sixth all-time in goals with 23, tied fo 10th in Vassar program history in points with 53 and ranks in the top-10 in points per game at 0.78.

Rosenblum earns her first All-Liberty League selection as she is named First Team following a season where she helped anchor the backline of the defense which allowed just 23 goals in 19 games. Rosenblum has started all 37 games in her career to date for the Brewers and recorded her first career defensive save in a 1-0 victory over New Paltz.

Hoffman earns her first career All-Liberty League honor after being named Second Team following a career-high 10 goals, a career-high five assists and a career-high 25 points heading into the NCAA postseason. Hoffman closed the final five games of the season with six goals and an assist and was named the Liberty League Championship's Most Outstanding Performer after scoring three goals and recording an assist in the two conference postseason matches. Hoffman's 10 goals this season ranks her tied for seventh all-time in a single season and her 25 points ranks her eighth all-time in a single season.

The Vassar coaching staff of third year Head Coach Annie Fowler and assistant coaches Cari Meltzer, Josie Skelley, Cat Hare and Sydney Kovel led Vassar (13-6, 5-2 LL) to its third Liberty League championship and first since 2021 following an incredible turnaround from a season ago where the Brewers finished 4-14 overall and 1-6 in the Liberty League. Vassar also earned the top seed in the conference tournament for just the second time in school history and the first time since 2018. The 13 wins this season ties the most victories in a season since 2019.

The Brewers will make its third appearance ever in the NCAA Championship tomorrow evening against Williams at 6:00 p.m. at Williamson Field in Williamstown, MA.
