Brewers Dealt Road Setback At Clarkson In Regular Season Finale

Vassar hosts First Round game on Tuesday

Potsdam, NY – The Vassar College Men's Soccer team closed the 2025 regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 road loss at Clarkson. With the result, Vassar is the third seed in the Liberty League Championship and will host a First Round game on Tuesday.
 
Saturday's defeat drops Vassar to 9-5-3 overall on the season and 5-2-2 against league rivals, while the Golden Knights improve to 7-5-4 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play, earning the fifth seed in the conference championship tournament.
 
How It Happened
  • The Golden Knights wasted no time getting the eventual game winning goal, with Zack Ruthfield finishing off a pass from Daniel Medina just 29 seconds into the tit to give Clarkson a 1-0 lead.
  • Clarkson struck again in the 12th minute when Paul Rolland set up Noah Partenza's third goal of the season at the 11:34 mark of the game.
  • The Golden Knights finished off a strong first half, taking advantage of a Vassar Own Goal in the 24th minute to head into the intermission with a commanding 3-0 lead.
  • Vassar closed the opening 45 minutes with a 7-4 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
  • Patrick Gale (San Antonio, TX) closed the first half with a pair of saves for Vassar.
  • Carter Kladstrup kept the Brewers off the board with two stops of his own for Clarkson.
  • Neither team would find the back of the net in the second frame with the Brewers doubling up the Golden Knights in shots, 6-3.
  • Kladstrup turned aside back-to-back attempts from Arden Tobolski (Chapel Hill, NC) and Mauricio Mejia (Miami, FL) early in the second half.
  • Kladstrup later denied Isaac Taegar (Metuchen, NJ) in the 67th minute to keep the Brewers off the board.
  • Clarkson finished the second half with a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
  • Jacob Raphan (Oceanside, NY) came on to play the second half in goal, making a single save.
