Troy, NY - The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon as a trio of Vassar College Field Hockey student-athletes were honored for their performances for the week ending October 5. Senior
Sofia Beseth was named the Offensive Performer of the Week, junior
Grace Wiley was tabbed the Defensive Performer of the Week and first year
Sophia Jammar earned the league's Rookie of the Week honor.
Vassar started conference play at 2-0 following the weekend with a 1-0 victory over #25 Ithaca on Friday followed by a 2-1 road win over Union on Sunday. The victory over the Bombers was the first since 2021 when Vassar defeated Ithaca in the Liberty League Championship game on the road.
Beseth played a major part in the road victory over the Garnet Chargers as she assisted on the first goal of the contest and then tallied the eventual game-winner in the third period to help the Brewers to its second straight conference victory. Beseth currently ranks in the top-10 in the league in points with 12 and goals with five.
Wiley earns their first weekly award after making three saves in the shutout victory over the Bombers and followed it up with a season-high eight saves to help the Brewers to road win over the Garnet Chargers. The junior currently ranks third in the conference in goals against average at 1.13 and is third in the league in shutouts with two.
Jammar picks up her first career weekly award after scoring the lone goal in the win over the nationally-ranked Bombers and is tied for second on the team in goals with five.
Vassar currently sits at 7-4 overall and 2-0 in Liberty League action heading into the week as the Brewers will head to Skidmore on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
