Saratoga Springs, NY – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team concluded a successful ITA Northeast Regional on Saturday with seniors
Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) and
Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, WI) advancing to the semifinal round in the main doubles draw.
Doubles
- Bauermeister and Kubiak started the day with a hard fought 8-6 victory over Nika Mori and Fletcher King from Skidmore to get into the final four pairs of the draw.
- In the semifinal match, the duo was topped 4-6, 5-7 by Jacob Linares and Nicholas Fischer from Hobart.
- Vassar's second pair in the quarterfinal round, First Year Jason Jia (Vail, AZ) and senior Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ), were topped by Alexi Katelevsky and Antonio Jose Chavez from Hamilton by a score of 8-4.
Singles
- In singles play, Bauermeister moved through to the quarterfinal round of the main draw after advancing past top Seed Philip Martin from NYU by a 6-0, 4-2, retired decision.
- In the quarterfinal round, Bauermeister battled in a hard fought 1-6, 6-3, 2-6 defeat by Alberto Thomas from The College of New Jersey.
- Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) was also victorious in the Round of 16, posting a 6-4, 6-4 win over Bryan Hui from NYU.
- Lee would round out the tournament following a 4-6, 2-4, retired decision in the quarterfinals.
