Troy, NY – A pair of Vassar College Men's Squash student-athletes have been recognized with Liberty League Weekly Awards it was revealed on Monday. Junior Konstantinos Georgallides (Limassol, Cyprus) has been named the league's Performer of the Week, while First Year Aqeel Merchant (Arlington, MA) has earned Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Georgallides got the 2025-26 season off to a strong start with a pair of victories out of the top position as the Brewers posted 9-0 victories over both Bard and Northeastern on Saturday. Georgallides opened the season by cruising to an 11-2, 11-3, 11-6 victory against the Raptors and followed that up with a hard fought 7-11, 11-6, 11-5, 12-14, 11-4 triumph against the Huskies to close out the day.
 
Merchant was equally as impressive in his collegiate debut for the Brewers, scoring a pair of sweeps playing out of the fourth slot. Merchant started the day with an overwhelming 11-0, 11-0, 11-0 victory against Bard and helped Vassar to its second 9-0 victory of the day with a 11-4, 11-7, 11-5 win against Northeastern.
 
At 2-0 on the season, Vassar takes to the road for the first time when it heads to Fordham on November 2.
