#9 Men's Volleyball Swept At #3 Stevens

Ramsey tallies 15 kills in loss to Ducks

HOBOKEN, NJ - The #9 Vassar College Men's Volleyball played its final road game of the regular season on Saturday as the Brewers fell to #3 Stevens 25-27, 15-25, 21-25 in non-conference action. Vassar's record falls to 19-6 on the season while the Ducks improve to 28-1 overall.

FIRST SET
  • Vassar took an early 5-2 lead after a kill each from senior Vaughn Ramsey and junior Payne Lounsbery along with a block from senior Andrew Guaragno and junior Gavin Akoto.
  • Stevens tallied five straight points to take an 8-5 lead, led by two blocks from Connor Feulner and Percy Bickford.
  • The Brewers drew even at 12 following a kill and an ace from Lounsbery along with a winner from senior Colin Jones.
  • The Ducks battled back to take a 19-17 lead on a block and winner from Koby Sherman before Vassar evened the score at 22 on a kill from Ramsey.
  • First year Parker Schoenl's ace put Vassar at set point at 25-24 until Stevens earned three straight points to take the first set on a kill from Bickford.
SECOND SET
  • Junior Billy Fan's kill tied the set at four before Stevens tallied four straight points, led by blocks from Feulner and Sherman, to take an 8-4 lead.
  • Stevens built its lead up to 18-9 on six straight points as Tyler Hoke and Sherman each buried two kills.
  • Back-to-back winners from Ramsey cut the lead to 21-12 before Stevens clinched the set on a kill from Hoke.
THIRD SET
  • The Brewers built a 7-5 lead as Ramsey registered four more kills along with an ace each from Lounsbery and Fan.
  • Five straight points from the Ducks tallied a 10-7 lead, capped by a kill each from Sherman and Bickford.
  • A kill from senior AJ Erickson trimmed the lead to 16-15 before three straight points from Sherman and Bickford pushed the lead to 19-15.
  • Ramsey's kill got Vassar within 23-20 but a block from Hoke and Sherman completed the sweep for Stevens.
FOR THE BREWERS
  • Ramsey recorded a match-high 15 kills for Vassar along with Fan tallying six winners and six digs.
  • Lounsbery added five kills and two aces while Guaragno registered three kills and two blocks.
  • Erickson handed out a team-high 20 assists and first year Tucker Shearn lifted a match-high 11 digs.
FOR THE DUCKS
  • Sherman tallied a team-high 12 kills and six blocks while Bickford added nine kills, two blocks and six digs.
  • Hoke added six kills and four blocks along with Feulner recording five kills and five blocks.
  • Louden Moran handed out a match-high 28 assists and lifted a team-high 10 digs.
UP NEXT
  • Vassar returns to Kenyon Hall for the first time in a month in a UVC matchup with New Paltz on Wednesday.
  • Stevens closes the regular season against King's (PA) on Wednesday.
