Brewers Topped At Juniata

DiLiberto nets hat trick

Huntingdon, PA – The Vassar College Women's Lacrosse team suffered its second straight loss following a 14-4 defeat on the road at Juniata Monday afternoon. First Year Emilia DiLiberto (Allison Park, PA) finished the day with a hat trick for the Brewers.
 
Monday's loss drops Vassar to 1-3 overall on the season, while Juniata remains unbeaten at a perfect 5-0.
 
How It Happened
  • After Juniata jumped out to a 1-0 lead, Lola Wright (Palisades, NY) evened the score for Vassar at the 13:17 mark of the first quarter.
  • Following the Wright goal, Juniata scored four straight goals before DiLiberto closed out the first period scoring to bring Vassar to within 5-2 after 15 minutes.
  • The Eagles tallied the first three goals of the second frame, with Skyler Stevens posting a goal and an assist, to surge in front 8-2 with just under nine minutes left before halftime.
  • DiLIberto scored twice in the final 5:52 of the second quarter to make the score 9-4 in favor of Juniata at the intermission.
  • The Eagles finished the first half with an 18-5 advantage in shots.
  • First half draw controls went to Juniata 11-4 as did groundballs 9-6.
  • Juniata did all of the scoring in the second half, outscoring Vassar 5-0 after the intermission.
  • Vassar did outshoot Juniata 12-8 after the break.
  • Juniata net minder Caoilinn Heatley turned aside nine shots after the intermission to keep Vassar off the board in the second half.
 
For The Brewers
  • DiLiberto scored three of the four Vassar goals in the game, adding a groundball, a caused turnover and two draw controls.
  • Wright tallied for fourth time this season and also collected a groundball and caused a turnover.
  • Natalie Daigle (Warwick, NY) assisted on a goal and won a draw control.
  • First Year Olivia Del Tatto (Bayville, NY) led the team with three groundballs and three caused turnovers.
  • Lauren Johns (Havertown, PA) finished the contest with seven saves in goal.
 
For The Eagles
  • Grace Gibbs closed a big day with four goals, six points, four caused turnovers and three draw controls.
  • Peyton Goodrich scored four times and totaled five points, six draws, five groundballs and four caused turnovers.
  • Kyndall Yeager scored four times and finished with an assist, a groundball and a caused turnover.
  • Heatley earned the win in goal with 10 saves and five groundballs.

  • Juniata closed the contest with a 26-17 advantage in shots.
  • Draw controls went to Juniata by a 14-8 count.
