Women’s Swimming And Diving Competes Hard At RPI

Little wins 200-yard breaststroke

Troy, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team returned to action Saturday afternoon, suffering a 164-78 defeat at RPI. Sophomore Anna Little (Irwin, PA) won the team's lone event in the meet, taking the top spot in the 200-yard breaststroke.
 
Saturday's defeat drops Vassar to 2-3 overall on the season in dual meet competition.
 
For The Brewers
  • Little had a strong meet for the Brewers, highlighted by the 200-yard breaststroke victory. The win came in a season-best time of 2:28.59 and Little added a runner-up finish on Saturday in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.00).
  • Senior Maya Luongo (Katonah, NY) also had a standout meet for the Brewers, earning a pair of runner-up finishes. Luongo touched out second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.11) and also earned runner-up points for Vassar in the 100-yard freestyle (55.91).
  • Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Village, MI) turned in a strong second-place swim for Vassar against the Engineers, finishing as the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle (25.60).
  • Sophomore Lara Chebotarev (East Longmeadow, MA) earned a pair of second-place finishes and posted a third-place showing for the Brewers. Chebotarev took the second spot in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.47) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.4) and added a third-place swim in the 200-yadr breaststroke (2:41.56).
  • First Year Eva D'Addario (Baltimore, MD) scored second-place points for the Brewers in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:29.81) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.69).
  • Maleigha Vietti (Overland Park, KS) rounded out the meet with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.53) and a third-place showing in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:28.70).
  • Tia Spivey (Gate City, VA) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:52.99).
  • Sophie Tran (Hillsborough, NJ) took third for the Brewers in the 200-yard individual medley (2:39.79).
  • In diving, Caroline Griem (Brooklyn, NY) took second off both boards, posting a 125.25 3-meter score and a mark of 144.38 in the 1-meter event.
  • Vassar closed the day with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with the team of Masters, Vietti, Little and Luongo finishing in a time of 1:43.41.
What's Next
  • Vassar is off from competition until December 6 when it opens the three-day Bomber Invitational hosted by Ithaca.
