Vassar Suffers Road Loss At RPI

Graber wins 1-meter diving

Troy, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team took to the road for the first time since the season opener on Saturday, battling hard in a 166-105 defeat at RPI. Alex Graber (Harrison, NY) closed out a strong day with a victory for the Brewers off the 1-meter diving board.

Saturday's loss to the Engineers drops Vassar to 1-4 overall on the season.

For The Brewers

Graber had a strong all-around day for the Brewers both in the pool and on the board. Graber won the diving event with a score of 157.35 and in the pool finished third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:14.95) and fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke.
First Year John Gao continued a strong start to the season with a pair of runner-up finishes. Gao took second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.49) and 200-yard individual medley (2:03.80) and added a third-place swim in the 200-yard backstroke.
Daniel Furman turned in a pair of season best swims for the Brewers, posting a time of 1:58.72 in the 200-yard freestyle, good for second-place, and a mark of 5:27.28 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) swam to a second-place finish for the Brewers in the 100-yard backstroke (53.85).
Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) scored runner-up points for Vassar in the 100-yard freestyle (50.92).
First Year Eli House (Oneonta, NY) finished off a strong meet finishing second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.32) and third in the 50-yard freestyle.
Fellow First Year Andrew Song (Wellesley, MA) touched out second in the 100-yard butterfly (2:04.36) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.51).
James Hatch closed the meet for Vassar with a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly (56.21) and third-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley.
Mike Seaton (Hoboken, NJ) earned a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (22.86) and took third for the Brewers in the 100-yard freestyle.
Matthew Short (Scituate, MA) placed third in the 200-yard freestyle.
Noah Rich (Dover, NH) scored third-place points in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Laszlo Lawless (Monterey, CA) touched out third in the 100-yard butterfly.
Vassar took second-place in both relays on Saturday with the team of Gao, Song, Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) and Jacob Collette (Milford, CT) opening the meet with a time of 3:51.81 in the 400-yard medley relay.
In the final event of the day, the team of House, Jauregui, Seaton and Ehrenfeld swam to a time of 1:29.44.

Vassar returns to action on December 6 when it opens the Bomber Invitational hosted by Ithaca.
