Men’s Soccer To Take On #12 Rowan In First Round Of The NCAA Tournament

Brewers travel to Middlebury, VT to take on Profs

Poughkeepsie, NY – The 2024 Liberty League Champion Vassar College Men's Soccer team will travel to Middlebury, VT this weekend to take on #12 Rowan in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament it was revealed Monday afternoon. Kick-off time and ticket information will be announced when the information becomes available.
 
Vassar enters the NCAA Tournament with a 12-3-3 overall record and is coming off its third Liberty League Championship in program history. Vassar topped RIT in the semifinal round 2-1 and earned its sixth NCAA Tournament berth against St. Lawrence after playing the Saints to a scoreless draw and getting by the Saints 4-3 in penalty kicks to claim the conference crown.
 
The Brewers feature a balanced scoring attack that is led by First Year Arden Tobolski (Chapel Hill, NC) who leads the way with 10 goals, three game winners, and 24 points. Duncan Keker (Oakland, CA) and Jared Fiske (Livingston, NJ) check in with seven goals apiece with Eli Torrey (Philadelphia, PA) checking in with four goals and four assists.
 
Jackson Hall (Washington, DC) and Joshua Lee (Bethlehem, PA) have each scored three times with sophomore Mauricio Mejia (Miami, FL) and Keker leading the team in assists with six helpers apiece.
 
Jacob Raphan (Oceanside, NY) has seen the bulk of action in goal, playing 1,512:53 of a possible 1,640:00 over 17 appearances. Raphan has produced five shutouts, including a career-high 10 save clean sheet in the Liberty League title tilt, and is working to a 1.07 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.
 
Rowan enters the weekend ranked 12th in the latest United Soccer Coaches Nation Poll (Oct. 29) and holds a 12-4-5 overall record. The Profs got by Stockton in the NJAC Championship by a score of 3-1. After trailing 1-0, the Profs struck three times in just under 14 minutes in the second half to earn the conference title.
 
Johnny Troiano leads a potent offensive attack with 16 goals and 39 points over 21 games played. Ryan Cleary has found the back of the net nine times, scoring four game winning goals, and has 19 points to date. Joey Kurak rounds out a trio of Profs with 10 points, totaling four goals and assisting on two others.
 
Dylan Aportela has started all 21 games in goal to date for Rowan and has produced eight shutouts. Aportela holds a 0.87 goals against average and a .795 save percentage while turning aside 70 shots.
 
First Round game times and ticket information will be made available as they are announced.
