Men’s Swimming And Diving Competes At Union

Ehrenfeld wins two events for Vassar

Schenectady, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team returned to the pool Saturday afternoon at Union, swimming hard in a tough 168-101 loss to the Garnet Chargers. Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) turned in a strong meet for the Brewers, winning a pair of events.
 
Saturday's loss sees Vassar move to 3-6 in dual meet competition.
 
For The Brewers
  • Ehrenfeld topped the field for Vassar in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races. Ehrenfeld claimed the top spot in the 50-yard race in a time of 22.16 seconds before touching out first in a tightly contested 100-yard race in 49.88 seconds.
  • First Year Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) continued a strong campaign with a victory in the 200-yard backstroke on Saturday, posting a time of 54.23 seconds.
  • Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ) turned in a strong swim in the 1,000-yard freestyle for the Brewers, posting an in-season best time of 11:15.99.
  • Han Ryu (Chantilly, VA) turned in a third-place finish for Vassar in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.80 seconds.
  • James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) turned in a season best time of 58.22 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke and added a season best mark of 2:06.36 in the 200-yard backstroke.
  • Rory Stumpf (Potomac, MD) swam to a fourth-place finish on Saturday in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.68 seconds, good for an in-season best mark.
  •  Tyler Tsukuda (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) nearly eclipsed his season best time in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:10.72.
  •  Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) placed fifth on Saturday for the Brewers in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:00.06.
  • First Year Jack Kahan (Lewiston, ME) took second for the Brewers in 1-meter diving, producing a lifetime best score of 98.76.
  • The 200-yard freestyle relay team put together a big swim for Vassar to finish off the meet, with the team of Jauregui (22.45), Ryu (22.15), Lukas Johnson (Minneapolis, MN) (22.25) and Ehrenfeld (21.84) posting a time of 1:28.69.
 
What's Next
  • Vassar closes out the home schedule on February 3 when it hosts the VC Sprint Invitational on Senior Day.
