Vassar Scores Home Victory Over Pace

Brewers win 11 events in home victory

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team was in action at Kresge Pool for the first time in 2024 Friday evening, coming away with a 176-100 victory over Division II Pace. The Brewers won 11 races in the event, including three from First Year Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA).

Friday's victory improves Vassar's record to 6-3 overall on the season.

For The Brewers

Li continued a standout rookie season on Friday, winning three events for the Brewers. Li took the top spot in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.34), 100-yard butterfly (59.86) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.31).
Fellow First Year Anna Little (Irwin, PA) scored a pair of victories for Vassar, topping the field in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.39) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:34.15).
Marleigha Vietti (Overland Park, KS) won the meet's longest event, swimming to a first-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:18.00).
Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) finished first for the Brewers in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.56) and added a second place showing in the 500-yard freestyle (5:20.80).
Bella Rippon (Hershey, PA) bested the field in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday (1:01.87) and picked up a runner-up finished in the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.27).
Alanna Muello (South Windsor, CT) was the top finisher in the 50-yard freestyle on Friday (25.79) and claimed the third slot in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.33).
Abigail McLaughlin (Boulder, CO) won the 100-yard freestyle for the Brewers (55.20) and earned a runner-up finish earlier in the meet in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.40).
Senior Sarah Quintana (Chandler, AZ) swam past the field in the 200-yard backstroke (2:12.20) and picked up a second-place finish for Vassar in the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.64) as well as a third place showing in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.12).
Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) swan to a second-place finish for Vassar in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:30.44).
Jolie Walker (Chicago, IL) turned in a strong meet, placing second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.81) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:24.75).
Maya Luongo (Katonah, NY) scored a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke ((1:05.26) before placing second in the 100-yard freestyle (56.52).
Alejandra Robins (EL Cerrito, CA) picked up a pair of runner-up finishes on Friday, placing second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.87) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.67).
Frances Pope (Orinda, CA) concluded a strong evening with third-place finishes in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.69) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:42.19).
Vassar opened the meet in strong fashion with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Quintana, Little, Muello and Luongo swam past the field in a winning time of 1:53.25.

What's Next

Vassar closes out the month of January with a trip to Union on January 27.
