Madison, NJ – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team saw two doubles pairs advance to the semifinal round and
Benjamin Almquist (Union Pier, MI) played his way into the quarterfinal round of the singles draw on Saturday on Day Two of the ITA Northeast Regional.
Doubles
- The Brewers have two of the final four teams playing in the main doubles draw through play on Saturday.
- The top pair of Nolan Kubiak (Neenah, WI) and Ethan Mantell (Hermosa Beach, CA) posted a pair of wins on Saturday.
- The duo opened the day with an 8-4 victory over their opponents from Hamilton and earned a spot in the Final Four with an 8-5 triumph over TCNJ.
- Kubiak and Mantell will take on another team from TCNJ for a berth in the final.
- Jay Wong (Hong Kong) and Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) also scored two wins on Saturday for the Brewers.
- The duo opened the day by battling past a team from Rochester in an 8-7 win and took a berth in the semifinal round with an 8-5 win over Ithaca.
- Wong and Lee will tussle with a team from RPI for a berth in the championship final.
Singles
- In the singles draw, Almquist scored a pair of wins to advance into the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
- Almquist opened the day with an impressive 8-2 win over Khai Ton from Union.
- The second victory of the day came in a 7-6 (5), 3-0, retired win over Boran Zheng from NYU.
