Brewers Play Second Straight Scoreless Draw

Zimmer matches season-high in saves

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – The Vassar College Women's Soccer team played its second straight scoreless draw against a league opponent on Wednesday, finishing a road game at Bard in a 0-0 deadlock. Teresa Zimmer (Long Valley, NJ) posted her fourth shutout of the year for the Brewers.
 
Vassar, who is 6-0-1 in its last seven meetings with Bard, moves to 5-2-2 overall on the season and to 0-0-2 in Liberty League action. Bard has its record go to 4-2-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar finished the opening 45 minutes with a slim 6-4 advantage in shots and took the only three corner kicks of the first half.
  • Zimmer was forced to make three saves over the first 23 minutes of the contest, including one off the foot of Carina Cooke nine minutes into the tilt.
  • Claire Karlin (Arlington, VA) had a shot turned aside at the 12:59 mark of the contest and Madison Bouggess (Swedesboro, NJ) hit the post at the 26:33 mark.
  • Riley McGrath (Coronado, CA) had a shot denied just after Bouggess rang the post and later missed to the right with a shot in the closing seconds of the first half.
  • Zimmer finished the first half with the three stops, while Bard keeper Seymone Rosenberg made a pair of saves for the Raptors.
  • Vassar turned up the pressure in the second half, unleashing 15 shots in the final 45 minutes.
  • Rosenberg was forced to make five stops to keep the game scoreless, including one off a shot from Bouggess at the 84:29 mark of the contest.
  • Zimmer kept Bard off the board with four saves after halftime, including a stop in the final 10 minutes to preserve the shutout.
  • Bard had a shot hit the post early in the second half, when a shot from Emma Kuntz hit the frame just under six minutes into the second period.
