Men’s Tennis Closes Out Play In Haverford/Swarthmore Invitational

Trio of Brewers win singles matches

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team concluded the Haverford/Swarthmore Invitational on Sunday with a home match against Hamilton. Benjamin Almquist (Union Pier, MI), Ethan Mantell (Hermosa Beach, CA) and Miles Sondergaard Jensen (Newton, MA) each won singles matches for the Brewers.

Doubles

Hamilton won two of the three competitive doubles matches on the day.
Vassar's top pair of Nolan Kubiak (Neenah, WI) and Mantell earned a hard fought 8-5 victory.
Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ) and Almquist battled in a tight 8-6 second doubles defeat.
Jay Wong (Hong Kong) and Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) were topped for the first time on the weekend, suffering a tight 8-5 loss.

Singles

Almquist closed out a strong weekend for the Brewers with a 6-1, 6-4 second singles win on Sunday.
Mantell was in action at fifth singles on Sunday and earned a 6-2, 7-5 triumph.
Sondergaard Jensen scored a hard fought 6-3, 5-7 (4) victory at sixth singles for Vassar.

What's Next

Vassar rounds out the fall schedule next weekend when it competes in the ITA Northeast Regional.
