Brewers Take On Host Fords At Haverford/Swarthmore Invitational

Vassar dominates singles play

Haverford, PA – The Vassar Men's Tennis team returned to action on Friday afternoon, taking on Haverford on the first day of the Haverford/Swarthmore Invitational. The Brewers came away victorious in three of the four doubles matches contested and took wins from the Fords in five of the six regulation singles matches.

Doubles

Four competitive doubles matches were contested on Friday with the Brewers taking three of them.
The first pair of Nolan Kubiak (Neenah, WI) and Ethan Mantell (Hermosa Beach, CA) scored a tough first flight win with an 8-6 triumph.
At the third position, Jay Wong (Hong Kong) and Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) finished with an 8-4 victory for the Brewers.
Henry Zhang (Zhengzhou, China) and Miles Sondergaard Jensen (Newton, MA) were also in action for Vassar on Friday, coming away with an 8-6 doubles victories.

Singles

The Brewers took victories on Friday at the first four singles positions and earned victories in five singles matches overall.
Playing at the top flight for the second straight match this fall, Wong scored a hard fought 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-2 victory for the Brewers.
Like Wong at the top flight, Benjamin Almquist (Union Pier, MI) was pushed to the limit at the second slot, but prevailed 6-2, 3-6, 10-2.
Lee powered to a 7-5, 7-5 win for Vassar at third singles on Friday.
Kubiak produced a 6-3, 7-5 triumph at the fourth position for Vassar.
Mantell picked up a victory at sixth singles for the Brewers with a 6-3, 6-4 win.

Vassar continues play at the Invitational on Saturday morning when it takes on co-host Swarthmore.
