POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent scored two runs in the top of the ninth to break a 6-6 tie as the Vassar College Baseball team fell 8-6 to the Dolphins in non-conference action on Wednesday night. CMSV improves to 18-12 overall while the Brewers move to 19-14 on the year.
Vassar got on the board first in the bottom of the second after sophomore
Birch Herring-Jackson drew a one-out walk. Senior
Sam Brinster then drove a homer down the left field line to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.
Mount Saint Vincent struck in the fifth as Dom Porto led off with a triple in the right center gap and then scored on a bunt single from Johnny Brucato to cut the lead to 2-1.
The eighth inning took many twists and turns as the Dolphins scored five runs in the top of the inning when Tyler Margolis doubled home Nikolas Mace to tie it at two. Brucato laid down a bunt single with the bases loaded to plate a run followed by Danny DiNorcia drawing a bases loaded walk to make it 4-2. Two runs scored on a fielder's choice from Eric Zimmerman to give CMSV a 6-2 lead.

Jaden Millstein stepped in with two outs and drove a two RBI triple off the right field fence to tie the game at six heading into the ninth.
The Dolphins scored twice in the ninth as Will Granata doubled to left field to score Margolis followed by Brucato plating Granata to give the Dolphins an 8-6 victory.

Frankie Murphy started for Vassar as he went five innings, allowing six hits, one run, three walks and struck out three. Sophomore

Kyle Flynn each tossed a scoreless inning in relief. Sophomore
Jack Blau took the loss as he gave up two hits, two runs and struck out two in his one inning of relief.
Michael Iocco went the first five innings for Mount Saint Vincent as he allowed four hits, two runs, three walks and struck out three. Aidan Cardenas and Ivan Naverro each tossed a scoreless inning in relief followed by Jake Bland earning the win getting one out in the eighth. Justin Dutzer tallied his first save of the season following a scoreless ninth inning.
Senior
Nick Greenhawt recorded two hits for the Brewers while Brinster drove in two runs on his homer. Brucato finished 4-for-5 for the Dolphins with four RBI along with Zimmermann tallying three hits and a run batted in.
Vassar returns to conference action with a three-game set with Rensselaer this weekend, starting with a Senior Day doubleheader on Friday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch for game one.
