POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Vassar College Baseball team recorded 11 runs on 15 hits on Friday afternoon as the Brewers cruised to a 11-1 victory in game one of a three-game series against Union College at Prentiss Field. The Brewers improve to 17-12 overall and 3-4 in the Liberty League East while the Dutchmen fall to 12-15 overall and 2-5 in the Liberty League East.
Vassar got on the board in the bottom of the first as junior
Reid Lapekas scored on a double steal attempt to make it 1-0 after Lapekas and senior
Andrew Kanellis each singled in the inning. Sophomore
Birch Herring-Jackson led off the third with a double and then was plated on a sacrifice fly from Kanellis. Senior
Adam Talwalkar drove home Lapekas on a RBI single to give Vassar a 3-0 lead after three innings.

Ezra Caspi in the fourth, Herring-Jackson plated a run on a safety squeeze before junior
Jaden Millstein scored a second run on a sacrifice fly to make it 5-0 after four.
The Brewers exploded for six runs in the sixth as Herring-Jackson drove home freshman
Jensen Bergman on a single followed by RBI singles from Millstein, Lapekas and Kanellis. Talwalkar and Bergman capped the big inning with RBI singles of their own to make it 11-0 after six.
Kobe Mentzer scored the Union lone run with an inside park homer to center field in the top of the eighth.
Senior
Ryan Harris earned the win for Vassar as he started and went five innings, allowing one hit, no runs, four walks and struck out five. Freshman
Addison Lee and sophomore
Pat Kerrigan combined for four shutout innings in relief and each struck out two.
Chris Suter took the loss for Union as he threw 5.1 innings and gave up 13 hits, 11 runs (10 earned) and struck out three. Kyle Patlove tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in relief and struck out two.
Lapekas finished the day with three hits and three runs scored while Kanellis, Talwalkar and Herring-Jackson each tallied two hits and two RBI. Bergman and Reyna also each had two hits and Millstein drove in two runs. Mentzer, Jack Milone and Julian Lightburn each registered a hit for the Dutchmen.
Vassar and Union will square off in a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon to conclude its three game series with the first game scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
