POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Vassar College Baseball team scored 11 runs in the first three innings to earn a 12-8 non-conference victory over Old Westbury on Wednesday afternoon. The Brewers improve to 11-6 overall while the Panthers drop to 5-7 on the season.
Vassar scored its first run in the bottom of the first on a ground ball double play that scored sophomore
Jaden Millstein. The Brewers expanded its lead to 6-0 in the second following a RBI single from junior
Ty Murray that scored freshman
Jensen Bergman followed by a run scoring fielder's choice. Sophomore
Daniel Laderman singled home sophomore
Birch Herring-Jackson and then stole second which led to a run scored by Millstein on a OW throwing error. Senior
Adam Talwalkar's sacrifice fly to center field tallied the fifth run of the inning for Vassar.
The Brewers put up another big number in the third as Herring-Jackson safety squeeze bunt scored Murray following his double. Laderman then laced a double to left center that scored Herring-Jackson and sophomore

Andrew Kanellis crushed his sixth homer of the year to give the Brewers a 11-0 lead after three.
The Panthers scored all eight of its runs in the sixth inning as Jaime Barrios' RBI single scored Oscar Fajardo for their first run of the game. Nick Papageorge scored on a VC error and then a bases loaded hit by pitch of Jacob Taormina knocked in another run. John Dell'Olio doubled down the left field line to score two more and then Taormina scored on a wild pitch to make it 11-6. Papageorge then laced a single to left to score Dell'Olio and Fajardo tallied the eighth run of the inning on an infield single and VC throwing error.
Senior
Nick Greenhawt's solo blast that cleared the scoreboard in left center field to score the only run in the final three innings as the VC bullpen closed the game out scoreless in the final three innings.
Junior
Michael Came earned his third win of the season on the mound for Vassar as he went five innings, allowing four hits, zero runs, three walks and struck out three. Seniors
Frankie Murphy,
Bryce Grathwohl and
Zach Magee combined for 3.1 scoreless innings in relief to close it out for the Brewers.
Michael Pokorny took the loss as he went one inning and allowed one run, one hit and walked one. Justin Aramini and Justin Aviles combined for four scoreless innings in relief and struck out three.
Murray finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Laderman finished with two hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Kanellis added two hits and two RBI while junior
Reid Lapekas, Greenhawt, Bergman and Reyna all had two hits in the game for Vassar. Dell'Olio tallied four hits and two RBI for Old Westbury while Barrios and Papageorge each recorded two hits.
The Brewers are scheduled to travel to SUNY Oneonta for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon for a 12:00 p.m. start.
