MAHWAH, N.J. - The fourth-ranked Vassar College Men's Volleyball team extended its winning streak to seven matches on Saturday afternoon following a 25-20, 25-18, 25-17 victory over Ramapo and a 25-19, 25-8, 25-11 sweep against Eastern Nazarene. Senior
Gavin van Beveren finished with 16 kills and 10 blocks in the two combined contests as the Brewers improve to 8-1 overall on the season with the two victories.

The two teams traded points throughout the early part of the opening set as a kill from sophomore
Gavin Akoto evened the match up at 10 apiece. A winner from Andrew Finnegan put the Roadrunners up 13-11 before a solo block from van Beveren drew the Brewers even once again at 13. Following a Conor Charlow put the first set at an 18-18 tie, senior
Andrew Kim buried three straight kills to take a three point advantage. A. Kim tallied a service ace and a kill along with a double block from junior
Vaughn Ramsey and Akoto to get the lead to 24-19. Akoto buried a winner to seal the first set 25-20 victory.
The Brewers got out to an early 8-4 lead in the second set on a winner from van Beveren and a solo block from Akoto. Following a Reece Kirchofer kill, VC scored seven straight points as Akoto, sophomore
Nick Villamil and A. Kim each tallied winners along with a block from Akoto and Ramsey. Vassar's lead ballooned to 19-9 on a Ramsey winner before the Roadrunners got within six at 22-16 on another Kirchofer kill. Ramsey put away the winning kill for VC as the Brewers took a 25-18 win.
Jack DiGirolamo started the third set with back-to-back blocks for Ramapo before a Ramsey kill tied the set up at four apiece. After a kill from Finnegan and a VC error cut the Vassar lead down to 9-8, a kill from Ramsey and a block from Ramsey and sophomore
Payne Lounsbery pushed the Brewers lead to 15-10. Back-to-back winners from Lounsbery extended the Vassar lead to eight at 19-11 but Ramapo scored three straight points on two kills from Kirchofer and an ace from Chris Moren. Sophomore
Tobias Clark buried three kills for the Brewers and knocked home the winning kill as the Brewers earned a 3-0 victory.
Ramsey led the way for Vassar with a match-high 11 kills, five blocks and five digs while Van Beveren added eight kills, five blocks and a pair of digs. Akoto finished with eight kills and four blocks while Kim chipped in seven kills and four digs. Lounsbery tallied six kills, a block and eight digs while junior
AJ Erickson handed out a team-high 29 assists and Villamil tallied 11 assists. Senior
Jorge Adames Reyes lifted a team-high 12 digs for the Brewers.
Finnegan recorded a match-high 11 kills and added nine digs while Kirchofer added eight kills and five digs. Sean Nieves recorded six kills while DiGirolamo and Conor Charlow each had three kills and two blocks. JoJo Meyer handed out a team-high 27 assists and Simon Moeller had a match-high 10 digs.

The first set opened with alternating winners from the two squads as a kill from sophomore
Billy Fan got VC ahead 8-6. After Eastern Nazerene got the set tied at eight, the Brewers scored four straight on a kill from senior
Adam Gulick and a block from Gulick and van Beveren. The Lions responded and tied the contest at 13 on a winner from Jacob Zarges and then tied the set back up multiple times down the stretch. A kill from Gulick along with errors from Eastern Nazarene gave VC a 20-17 advantage followed by a triple block from J. Kim, A. Kim and van Beveren to extend the lead to 23-19. van Beveren buried a kill to clinch the first set victory 25-19.
Vassar scored the first six points of the second set as Gulick buried two kills along with one apiece from Fan and freshman
Tristan Christofferson. Following a VC error to get the lead down to 8-3, the Brewers rattled off seven straight points on kills from Gulick, van Beveren and A. Kim along with van Beveren, J. Kim and A. Kim combining for a block. The Vassar lead grew to 20-5 after service aces from J. Kim and Fan along with two kills from A. Kim. Ian Pacheco's kill got the Lions to 22-8 but a kill from van Beveren along with an ace from Gulick gave VC a 25-8 second set victory.
Eastern Nazarene took an early 3-1 lead on a winner from Nick Thilbeau before Vassar tallied six straight points, capped by two aces and a kill by Gulick along with kills from J. Kim and Fan. The Brewers lead grew to 17-9 on a kill from Fan followed by winners from Fan, van Beveren and Gulick as Fan knocked down a service ace to take a 25-11 third set victory.
A. Kim led the team with 11 kills, three blocks and seven digs while Gulick tallied 10 kills, three aces, four blocks and six digs for the Brewers. van Beveren recorded eight kills and five blocks while Fan had seven kills, two aces and a block. J. Kim handed out a match-high 36 assists while chipping in two aces and three blocks. Freshman
Casey McMenamin lifted seven digs on the match for Vassar.
Delfy Soler buried five kills for the Lions and added two digs. Pacheco added three kills while Nathan Jacques had two kills and added a team-high 11 assists. Fernando Paredes lifted a team-high four digs.
The Brewers will return to action on Thursday evening against Springfield at Kenyon Hall. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
