Men’s Swimming And Diving Has Strong Day At Skidmore

Johnson scores first career victory

Saratoga Springs, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team closed out a three-meet road swing Saturday afternoon at Skidmore, falling to the Thoroughbreds 175-101. Jacob Cerone (New Windsor, NY) continued a strong start to the season by sweeping the diving events.
 
Saturday's loss drops Vassar to 1-3 overall on the season.
 
For The Brewers
  • Lukas Johnson (Minneapolis, MN) picked up their first career victory in the 200-yard freestyle on Saturday for the Brewers, swimming a time of 1:57.09. Johnson went on to add a third-place swim for the Brewers in the 500-yard freestyle, touching out in 5:24.20.
  • Cerone swept the diving events against for Vassar, topping the field in the 3-meter event with a score of 196.43. Cerone went on to earn a first-place score off the 1-meter board with a score of 188.18.
  • Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) swam to a pair of second place finishes on Saturday, earning runner-up points in both the 100-yard backstroke (55.51) and the 100-yard butterfly (53.50), swimming a season best time in the butterfly race.
  • Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NV) turned in a pair of season best swims with second place finishes in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.16) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.22).
  • Han Ryu (Chantilly, VA) posted a second-place finish for Vassar in the 100-yard freestyle in a season best time (50.62) and added a third place showing in a season best time in the 100-yard butterfly (56.03).
  • Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) posted a runner-up finish in the 50-yard freestyle (22.38).
  • James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) swam to a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.83).
  • Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ) earned a third-place finish for the Brewers in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:25.84).
  • Swimming three of the most grueling events in the session, First Year Alex Graber (Harrison, NY) picked up a runner-up finish in a season best time in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:15.11), a fourth-place finish in a season best time in the 500-yard freestyle (5:26.28) and a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley in a third season best time of the day (4:47.53).
  • Vassar's 'A' 200-yard medley relay team opened the day with a second-place finish, with the team of Jauregui, Kurosawa, Ryu and Ehrenfeld completing the race in 1:39.63.
  • To close the day, the 'A' 400-yard freestyle relay team of Johnson, Deluca, Jauregui and Ehrenfeld topped the field in 3:19.58.
 
What's Next
  • Vassar returns to Kresge Pool for the first time since the season opener on November 11 when it welcomes RPI.
