Brewers Cruise Past New Paltz, 169-87

Vassar finishes with 20 season best swims

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team had a huge meet on Friday against visiting New Paltz, topping the Hawks 169-87. Vassar produced 20 season best marks on the night out of 36 individual swims.

Friday's victory gets Vassar back into the win column and improves its overall record to 4-2 on the season.

For The Brewers

The Brewers took the top three positions in six events and were scored as winners in 10 races against the Hawks.
Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) picked up the Brewers first individual win of the night with a time of 11:18.72 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, winning the event by nearly nine seconds.
Vassar took the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle, led by Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) with a time of 2:00.91. Maleigha Vietti (Overland Park, KS) and Alejandra Robins (El Cerrito, CA) followed in times of 2:02.49 and 2:03.88.
Sarah Quintana (Chandler, AZ) earned the first of two individual wins with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke in a season best time of 1:00.85. Maya Luongo (Katonah, NY) and Jolie Walker (Chicago, IL) rounded out the top three with times of 1:04.06 and 1:05.85.
In the 200-yard butterfly, each of Vassar's three finishers produced a season best time. First Year Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) led the way (2:13.16) and was followed by Anna Little (Irwin, PA) and Karlie Porter (Zachary, LA) with times of 2:19.47 and 2:27.43.
McLaughlin led the way again in the 100-yard freestyle as the Brewers swept the top three positions. The winning time came in 55.53 seconds with Luongo and Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Hills, MI) touching out in times of 56.27 seconds and 58.38 seconds.
Vietti scored a win in the 200-yard backstroke and led three Brewers who posted season best times in the race with a mark of 2:17.70. Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) and Walker followed closely in 2:23.87 and 2:24.32.
Little led Vassar in the 200-yard breaststroke with a winning time of 2:33.62 with Lara Chebotarev (East Longmeadow, MA) and Frances Pope (Orinda, CA) rounding out the top three.
Chebotarev added a win for Vassar in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.44).
Quintana scored a victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:28.81.
Robins posted the quickest time in the pool in the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.15) and added a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:36.57).
Li and Alanna Muello (South Windsor, CT) were the two quickest in the 100-yard butterfly, posting times of 1:01.14 and 1:01.85.
Vassar's 200-yard medley relay team opened the meet with the team of Quintana, Little, Muello and Luongo swimming a winning time of 1:52.15.
