Vassar Earns Victory Over Visiting New Paltz

Team features 22 season best swims

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar Men's Swimming and Diving team put together a complete team effort on Friday as the Brewers earned a 153-118 home win over local foe New Paltz. The Brewers put together 22 season best swims in the meet and won eight events against the Hawks.

Friday's win snapped a four-meet slide for the Brewers and improves its dual meet record on the season to 2-4.

For The Brewers

First Year Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) won a pair of events for the Brewers on Friday, swimming a season best time of 53.73 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke and a season best time of 53.88 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly.
Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NV) also had a big night for the Brewers, winning the 100-yard breaststroke in a lifetime best time of 59.77 and the 200-yard breaststroke in a season best time of 2:12.49.
Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) turned in a pair of season best swims for the Brewers in the sprint freestyle events. Ehrenfeld won the 50-yard race in a time of 21.60 seconds, topping his previous season best by a half second, before taking the top spot in the 100-yard race in 49.78 seconds, besting his old season best by six tenths of a second.
Alex Graber (Harrison, NY) combined to swim the 1,000-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly, placing second in the freestyle race (11:14.78) and fourth in the butterfly.
Lukas Johnson (Minneapolis, MN) swam to a pair of runner-up finishes on Friday, posting a time of 1:52.47 in the 200-yard freestyle and a mark of 5:18.18 in the 500-yard freestyle.
James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) touched out second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.06) and added a fourth place showing in the 100-yard backstroke.
Han Ryu (Chantilly, VA) scored a pair of second-place finishes for the Brewers, recording a time of 22.36 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and a time of 51.30 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.
Rory Sumpf (Potomac, MD) earned a runner-up finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.28).
Tyler Tsukuda (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) swam to a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:10.43 and added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke.
Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) placed third in the 100 and 200-yard backstrokes as well as the 100-yard butterfly.
Robin Auwaerter (Syracuse, NY) placed third for the Brewers in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Croix Horsley (Cinnaminson, NJ) earned a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ) placed fourth in both the 1,000 and 500-yard freestyle races.
The Vassar 'A' relay team took first place on Friday in both the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle races. The medley team of Jauregui, Kurosawa, Ryu and Ehrenfeld topped the field in 1:38.11 with the freestyle team of Deluca, Johnson, Ryu and Ehrenfeld winning in a time of 3:19.04.

What's Next

Following a week off, Vassar will head to Ithaca for the Bomber Invitational starting on December 2.
