Women's Volleyball Falls in Non-Conference Action at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Vassar College Women's Volleyball hit the road on Wednesday evening as the Brewers fell 17-25, 19-25, 19-25 to non-conference foe #RV Williams. The Brewers drop to 8-7 overall while the Ephs improve to 10-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • FIRST SET
    • Vassar took an early 4-1 lead following a kill from junior Julia Hale and a service ace from sophomore Ellie Kogan.
    • Williams drew even at 10 on a winner from Sydney Eyestone and took a 17-12 lead on a kill from Celia Adams.
    • The Brewers cut the lead down to three following an ace from first year Holland Kaplan and a kill from Hale before Willams pushed the lead up to 22-16 on an ace from Lauren Kauppila.
    • The Ephs scored three of the final four points of the set and took the first set on a winner from Adams.
  • SECOND SET
    • After a 2-2 tie to begin the set, the Ephs tallied five of the next six points to take a 7-3 lead on two kills from Keely Campuzano and an ace from Sidra Wohlwend.
    • Vassar answered to tie the set at eight following four kills from Kaplan and a double block from Hale and junior Molly Ardren.
    • Williams took a 15-12 lead on a block from Campuzano and Caroline Tosolini and extended it to 19-14 on a kill from Marit Hoyem.
    • Back-to-back kills from first year Maura McAusland and an ace from classmate T Petro cut the lead down to 20-19 before the Ephs scored the final five points, led by four kills from Adams.
  • THIRD SET
    • Williams earned a 10-6 lead as kills from Tosolini, Hoyem, and Adams along with an ace from Hoyem put the Ephs ahead early.
    • Vassar cut the lead down to two following a block and an ace from McAusland.
    • A block from Hale and sophomore Molly Delahunty trimmed the Williams lead to 14-13 before the Ephs scored four straight to push the lead back to five.
    • Three kills from Adams along with an ace from Hoyem clinched the three set sweep for Williams.
FOR THE BREWERS
  • Kaplan finished with a team-high nine kills and added four digs while McAusland recorded six kills, four digs, two aces and two blocks.
  • Hale added five kills and two blocks and Delahunty registered two kills and two blocks.
  • Ardren handed out a team-high 16 assists and tallied four digs along with Kogan lifting a team-high 10 digs.
FOR THE EPHS
  • Adams posted a match-high 14 kills and 11 digs along with Campuzano recording 11 kills and two blocks.
  • Hoyem tallied eight winners and three aces and Eyestone buried six kills.
  • Kauppila handed out a match-high 33 assists and also added 10 digs.
UP NEXT
  • Vassar heads north to take on Hartwick and Elmira in a tri-match at Elmira on Saturday afternoon with the first match beginning at 1:30 p.m.
  • Williams returns to NESCAC play against #14 Wesleyan at home on Friday.
