Men’s Swimming Competes At Brandeis

Trio of Brewers win two events apiece

Waltham, MA – The Vassar College Men's Swimming team took to the road for the first time this season and suffered a tight 154-129 non-conference loss at Brandeis. Three Brewers won a pair of events each, including Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NV), Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) and Jacob Cerone (New Windsor, NY) who swept the diving events.
 
Saturday's hard fought loss to the Judges drops Vassar to 1-1 overall on the season.
 
For The Brewers
  • Kurosawa continued a strong start to the season with victories for the Brewers in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.70) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.79) with the 200-yard time a season best.
  • Ehrenfeld also picked a pair of victories for Vassar, taking the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle (22.85) and the 100-yard freestyle (51.08).
  • Cerone took the top spot in 1-meter diving on Saturday, which was contested twice. Cerone posted a score of 153.15 in the first set of dives before scoring 141.30 in the second stanza.
  • Han Ryu (Chantilly, VA) posted a pair of season best times against the Judges, winning the 100-yard butterfly (55.44) and coming in just behind Ehrenfeld in the 50-yard freestyle (22.88).
  • Lukas Johnson (Minneapolis, MN) turned in a pair of strong swims, taking second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.52) and third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:26.44).
  • First Year Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) posted a runner-up finish and a third place showing for the Brewers on Saturday. Jauregui swam a season best time of 56.35 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke, good for second place, and added a time of 2:08.37 in the 200-yard backstroke.
  • Rory Stumpf (Potomac, MD) posted a pair of third-place finishes on Saturday, recording a time of 1:07.47 in the 100-yard breaststroke and a season best time of 2:32.20 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
  • Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) swam to a season best time of 56.85 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • Tyler Tsukuda (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) posted a third-place finish for the Brewers in the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.63).
  • James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) placed third for Vassar in the 100-yard backstroke (59.63).
  • Jack Kahan (Lewiston, ME) finished second in the first set of 1-meter dives, posting a score of 93.52.
  • The 200-yard medley relay team of Jauregui, Kurosawa, Deluca and Ehrenfeld posted a victory in a season best time of 1:39.44.
  • The 400-yard freestyle relay squad of Ehrenfeld, Ryu, Johnson and Jauregui posted a second-place finish to end the meet in a time of 3:21.89.

  • Vassar returns to action on October 27 when it travels to non-conference rival Montclair State.
