Brewers Falter At St. Lawrence

Zimmer makes five saves

Canton, NY – The Vassar College Women's Soccer team played its first of two games in the North Country on Friday, dropping a 1-0 decision at St. Lawrence. Senior goalkeeper Teresa Zimmer (Long Valley, NJ) finished the contest with five saves.
 
Friday's defeat stops a five-game unbeaten streak for the Brewers and drops them to 7-3-2 overall and 1-1-2 in Liberty League play. St. Lawrence improves to 5-4-3 overall and 2-2-1 in conference competition.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar opened the game with two scoring opportunities when London Wilkes (Santa Monica, CA) had a shot saved and them promptly hit the post on the rebound inside the first three minutes of the contest.
  • Noelle Namba (San Francisco, CA) had two more attempts for the Brewers, one in the 14th minute and another in the 21st.
  • After withstanding the early barrage from the Brewers, St. Lawrence got on the board in the 23rd minute with the only goal of the contest.
  • Lily Pleau found the back of the net off an assist from Sydney Keenan at 22:17 with what proved to be the deciding goal.
  • Zimmer would make a save just over five minutes after the goal to keep Vassar within a shot.
  • The Brewers had two more attempts in the closing minutes of the first half, but could not find the equalizer.
  • St. Lawrence outshot Vassar 8-7 prior to halftime.
  • First half corner kicks went to the Brewers by a 2-1 margin.
  • Zimmer finished the opening stanza with four stops for the Brewers.
