Brewers Conclude Play At ITA Northeast Regional

Vassar opens spring schedule February 17

Madison, NJ – The Vassar College Men's Tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Northeast Regional on Sunday. The Brewers dropped two tough semifinal decisions in the doubles draw and Benjamin Almquist (Union Pier, MI) suffered a hard four quarterfinal defeat in the singles draw.

Doubles

The Brewers had two of the final four doubles teams remaining in the main doubles draw of the tournament.
The fourth seed in the event, Nolan Kubiak (Neenah, WI) and Ethan Mantell (Hermosa Beach, CA), dropped a marathon 8-7 (7-5) decision to top seed Matthew Michibata and Harrison Maitland-Carter from TCNJ.
Jay Wong (Hong Kong) and Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) were also in action in the semifinal round on Sunday and suffered an 8-2 loss to Aiden Drover-Mattinen and Andy Zhu from RPI.

Singles

In the main singles draw, Almquist posted a trio of victories over the first two days of the event to reach the quarterfinal round.
On Sunday, Almquist suffered a hard fought 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 loss to Tsubi Okada from RPI.

Vassar opens the dual match spring schedule with a trip to MIT on February 17, 2024.
