POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - It was a strong day in the Kresge Pool as the Vassar College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams competed against Union College on Senior Day. The Brewers women soared to a 195-84 victory while the men fell in a hard fought 155-128 meet.
The senior day meet opened up with the foursome of juniors

Frances Pope combined for a second place finish in 1:56.96 followed by a third place finish from the quartet of freshman
Maleigha Vietti, sophomore
Szofia Lewis and seniors

Grace Myers in 1:58.99.
The men's event saw Vassar finished second with the group of freshman Sam DeLuca, sophomore Hayden Ehrenfeld and seniors Anthony Cheng and Jason Albaum finishing in a time of 1:40.02.
VC finished 1-3 in the women's 1000-freestyle as rookie Addie Weiner earned the victory in 11:08.7 followed by freshman
Quinn Hoagland in 11:17.73 and freshman
Abbe Colgan recorded a third place finish in 11:42.18. Sophomore Robin Auwaerter recorded a second place finish in the men's event in 11:15.53.
In the 200-freestyle, Quintana took the win in the women's event in 2:01.60, edging out McLaughlin who finished second in 2:01.89. Junior
Alanna Muello earned a third place finish in 2:06.96. Senior Robbie Perot earned the victory in the men's event as he finished in 1:47.00 and was followed by sophomore Ben Glazebnik who recorded a time of 1:49.98.
In the 100-backstroke, Vietti won the women's event in 1:03.58 and junior
Jolie Walker was second in 1:03.91. Freshman Lily Masters finished third in 1:05.22 for the Brewers. DeLuca recorded a second place finish in the men's event with a time of 57.40.
Next up was the 100-breaststroke as freshman
Stephanie Norris finished third in 1:14.65 in the women's event. Cheng scored a second place finish in the men's event in a time of 1:02.38 and Ehrenfeld finished third in 1:04.04.
In the 200-butterfly, Robins earned the win for Vassar in 2:15.66 and was followed by Myers in 2:18.37 and junior
Karlie Porter finished third in 2:25.23 in the women's event. Albaum took the victory in the men's event with a time of 2:03.07 and sophomore Tyler Tsukada finished third in 2:10.52.
In the 50-freestyle, Whittington picked up another victory with a time of 25.38 as the Brewers finished 1-3 with Luongo in second at 25.55 and Rippon in third with a time of 26.30. Glazebnik earned the win in the men's event in 22.13.
The meet switched to the diving portion as senior
Evelyn Boyle earned the win at the 1 meter with a score of 196.87. Sophomore Jacob Cerone was second in the men's event at the 1-meter with a score of 181.05 and was edged out by just two points.
The action returned to the pool for the 100-freestyle as Whittington earned another win in 55.73 and was followed by Luongo in 56.14 and Masters in 57.27, respectively. Glazebnik tallied another win in the men's event as he finished in 48.39 while Ehrenfeld finished in third with a time of 49.60.
The next event was the 200-backstroke as the women's event saw Vassar finish 1-3 with Quintana picking up the win at 2:11.27 and McLaughlin finishing second in 2:17.36 followed by Hoagland in third in a time of 2:19.39. DeLuca was the top finisher in the men's event with a third place finish in 2:09.61.
In the 200-breaststroke, Colgan tallied a victory in 2:32.80 in the women's event. Cheng recorded a second place finish in the men's event for the Brewers with a time of 2:15.32.
Next up was the 500-freestyle where the Brewers went 1-3 in the women's event with Vietti winning the race in 5:26.11. Myers finished second in 5:26.59 and Muello was third in 5:44.60. Perot earned the win for Vassar in the men's event with a time of 4:52.57.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Vassar finished with the top three swimmers once again as Lowenthal took the victory at 1:02.14, followed by Norris in second with a time of 1:03.90 and Porter in third with a time of 1:06.82. Albaum finished second for the Brewers in the men's event in 54:19.
In the 3-meter diving, Boyle tallied another victory with a score of 148.42 in the women's event. Cerone tallied a second place finish with a score of 185.92 for Vassar in the men's event.
The action returned to the pool for the final time as Vassar scored a second place finish in the men's 200-yard individual medley from Anthony Cheng in a time of 2:04.59 and a fourth place tally from Albaum at 2:08.73. Rippon finished in a time of 2:17.17 in the women's event while Norris finished in 2:24.32 for Vassar.
In the final event of the day, the group of Luongo, Quintana, McLaughlin and Whittington recorded a time of 3:41.11 while Muello, Lowenthal, Myers and Masters tallied a time of 3:50.41. The quartet of Vietti, Robins, Wiener and WAlker tallied a time of 3:57.26.
VC took the victory in the men's event as the foursome of junior Luke Johnson, Perot, Glazebnik and Ehrenfeld finished in a time of 3:17.49.
The Brewers will return to action next weekend at the Skidmore Sprint Invitational. The meet on Saturday, January 28th is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Saratoga Springs.
