HAVERFORD, PA – It was another successful day of action for the Vassar men's tennis team, competing at the Haverford Fall Invitational on Sunday. The Brewers squared off against opponents from Washington College (MD) for the event finale, coming away with solid success.
In doubles action, Vassar's rookie duo of
Fernando Bauermeister and
Nolan Kubiak recorded an 8-6 win over the Shoremen's Ryokei Kawai and Andre Remi Jakobi. Brewers sophomore
Arnav Agostinho and freshman
Pedro Cattaruzzi then bested Washington's Landon Strober and Andrew Province by an 8-5 score.
Sophomore
James Balon and rookie
Miles Sondergaard Jensen then posted an 8-6 win over Aaradith Ravichandran and Christian Gruyon. The pairing of rookie
Ethan Mantell and
Russell Oh then defeated Kohl Perkins and Johannes Ludwistorff, 8-6.
In singles action, Jakobi posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Vassar's Bauermeister, but junior
Benjamin Almquist rebounded for the Brewers with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Strober. Agostinho then suffered a tough loss to Ravidaudran by a 6-3, 3-6, 3-10 margin.
Balon was up next, posting a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kawai, while Mantell was then a 6-3, 6-0 winner against Gruyon. The final match of the day saw Oh suffer a tough 6-2, 4-6, 8-10 loss to Province.
Vassar returns to action on September 30 when it travels to Madison, NJ for the ITA Regional Championships. Action runs from the 30th through October 2nd.
