POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Vassar College Women's Rugby team heads south to Matthews, NC for the Collegiate Rugby Association of America (CRAA) Fall Classic which will crown a national champion for the fall of 2022.
The Brewers will take on Temple University in the first of the semifinal games at the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex facility on Saturday with a kick-off scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
Vassar heads into the weekend with a record of 11-1 and defeated conference foe Fairfield University 28-10 in the Tri-State Rugby Championship final to advance straight to the final four. Senior
Caeli Porette leads the team in tries on the season with 19 while newcomer
Sophia Bailey is second on the squad with 16. Junior
Asia Baker is the third member of the team with double digit tries as she has added 10 tries on the season. Sophomore
Zoe Lynch has connected on 43 cons for Vassar and leads the team in points with 106.
The other semifinal contest features the Colorado School of Mines facing off against the United States Coast Guard Academy at 1:00 p.m. The winners of these two contests will face off in the the Championship game on Sunday at 12:00 pm with that game will take place in the Sportsplex Stadium. The championship contest will be live streamed via the
Rugby Network.
