POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Vassar College Women's Rugby team defeated Rensselaer 48-0 in the Tri-State Conference Semifinal on Saturday afternoon under blue skies at the Vassar Farm. The Brewers now advance to the championship game tomorrow afternoon against Fairfield at 1:00 in Fairfield, CT with a record of 8-1 overall on the season.

Caeli Porette scored Vassar's first try when RPI elected to kick out of their 22 and the fullback ran intelligently to go over in the left corner. Freshman
Julia Wolff barged over to make it 10-0 and then
Zoe Lynch kicked the conversion and it was 12-0.
Sophia Bailey scampered in for try number three after another RPI kick went wayward and the Vassar number 9 stood up the last defender with a ridiculously dramatic stop and go. Vassar number 13,
Isabel Rodriguez deservedly scored next and it was just reward for all the hard running and diligent work that has been done this season by the powerful center as the half concluded with Vassar leading 22-0.
The second forty minutes were strong for Vassar and again it was Porette who opened the Vassar account. Now playing at 13, with
Claire Zickl at fullback having replaced Robinson, Porette was set up by
Kasey Drake after the forwards had won good ball. Hooker
Katie Canavan and Bailey collected the next two tries and for the second week in a row flanker
Yasmeen Kassem-Scott went over.
Tomorrow, Vassar will play Fairfield University, who defeated the Brewers 41-19 two weeks ago. This time the Conference title is on the line and with it a place in the Final 4 of the Collegiate Rugby Association of America National Championship.
