POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Vassar College Women's Rugby team earned its 10th victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Marist 19-12.

Vassar College Women 19 v 12 Marist College Women
Tries: Julie Geller (2) & Samuel Tang (1).
Cons: Sarah Boucher-Rowe (1) & Zoe Lynch (1)
Despite limited game opportunities the Vassar rookies with just a sprinkling of experience put together some good continuity and fashioned three tries against their Marist College counterparts.
The scrum looked steady and with
Maya Winter barking orders at the number 9 position Vassar did get into good patterns of play. Credit is due for the younger members of the team for establishing shape that led to the good tries.
It was
Julie Geller, one of the more experienced players on the field although new to the front row, who found the goal line twice. Her brace of tries was added to by Sam Tang and Vassar led 19-5 before Marist pulled one score back.
The back division was well led by flyhalf
Sarah Boucher-Rowe who was also very visible on defense making a number of good tackles.Â
In the centers
Madeline Sumrow and
Elise Johnson made inroads and wing
Jamie Marinez had one blistering run down the right wing of over 60 meters before being hauled down inside the Marist 22.
Vassar will look to return to action next weekend at a time and date to be determined.
