Box Score TROY, N.Y. - It was a defensive battle in Liberty League women's soccer action on Wednesday evening as Vassar played to a 0-0 tie at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) at ECAV Stadium. The Brewers are now 7-4-5 overall and 3-2-3 in league action, while the Engineers move to 3-7-4 and 1-4-3 in the Liberty League.
After a scoreless opening half that saw the Engineers with a 4-0 advantage in shots, the Brewers picked up their play in the second stanza. Sophomore
Madison Bouggess drove a shot in but it sailed just wide left in the 55th minute, followed just over a minute later by a shot from rookie
Claudia Rogers that RPI keeper Megan Wampner was forced to save.
Senior captain
Violet Munnelly saw her 66th minute attempt go out right, while her shot in the 72nd minute sailed to the left and out to keep the game scoreless.
The Brewers had a final chance to net the go-ahead in the 86th minute of play as senior
Isabel Leinenweber sent a rocket in on goal that was saved by Wampner to make the score hold at 0-all.
Vassar owned a 6-5 edge in shots, while both teams had two shots on goal. Each team also had a corner kick on the evening.

The Brewers return to the pitch on Saturday when they host Ithaca College in the regular season finale for both teams. Game time is set for 2pm and will begin with a Senior Day celebration prior to kick-off for the Brewers five graduates. Rensselaer will also play its final regular season contest on Saturday in a 2pm tilt at Clarkson University.
