DANBURY, CT - Western Connecticut State University posted two goals in each half, holding off Vassar College for a 4-2 non-conference victory on Wednesday evening. With the victory, the Colonials remain perfect at 5-0, while the Brewers slip to 2-2 on the young season.

Three minutes later and the Brewers tied things up as senior forward
Skylar Herrera-Ross buried the ball past Colonials keeper Karly Martin at 23:19. Despite the momentum, the Brewers were unable to hold off Western Connecticut in the second half. In the 57th minute, the Colonials were awarded a penalty kick, which saw junior midfielder Maya Croze sent it sailing into the left corner past VC freshman keeper
Julia Reigrut.
West Conn added an insurance goal in the 78th minute as junior midfielder Skylar Jorge, who scored the second goal of the game for the Colonials in the opening half, buried her second of the game for the 4-2 edge.
The Brewers saw several attempts, holding a 15-13 edge in shots for the game, but none were able to get through. Vassar's best attempt late came from junior midfielder
Sydney MacDonald, but Martin was there for the stop.
Martin posted seven saves in the win for West Conn, while Reigrut recorded five stops.
Vassar returns to action on Saturday when it welcomes Oneonta State to Gordon Field at 2pm.
